Re: Any review on Britax Companion?

I purchased the Companion after playing with the neighbors, while I was pregnant with number 4. I spent a long time looking, playing, inspecting other infant seats, but could not find anything that I thought offered better protection. I ordered the seat online, bought it in the plum purple, and when it arrived I fell in love! I do have to admit that the carseat itself is pretty heavy in weight, but how can anybody argue with the headrest? I bought the Britax Vigour stroller (I love that too!) and the carseat simply clicks onto the frame in the same way you would use a snap n go stroller, except with a better fit. (I have a snap n go too). My daughter is now 7 months, and yes, her head sweats, but she still fits very well in her seat at barely under 18 pounds, and I am not looking forward to replacing it, but have settled on a Boulevard. My ONLY complaint is that I wish it was a 30 lb weight limit. She is the youngest of 4 children, and I am very angry at myself for not purchasing a Britax seat sooner. I will never buy any other brands, except Maxi Cosi for boosters. I would reccommend this Companion to any parent, I give it 100 thumbs up!

My son screamed and cried because of that head rest, and the fabric behind his head was always thoroughly soaked after only a few minutes. I had to move him to a convertible at 3 months because he cried so much. He was much happier after the switch! Then again, he was a huge baby and would've outgrown it by weight at 4 months anyway.

The Companion was discontinued in January 2008, so any Companions that are still available at retailers will already be over a year old. Britax is now coming out with a redesigned infant seat called the Chaperone. It looks great! The head rest was changed to side wings, and it now has a 30-pound weight limit. It's on my short list of infant seats to consider for this baby. :)

Re: Any review on Britax Companion?

I actually adore my Companion that I am using for my son. He fit perfectly in it as a newborn (which he still is now weighing 7 lbs 8 oz). Since I don't prefer to carry buckets around, it mostly stays in the truck unless my husband is with us and he has no problem carrying it. The only issue he has with it is to remember to put the handle down to the bottom position (which he gets reminded of all the time).
