Why are they getting rid of the Regent?

I know that they are getting rid of it, I was just wondering why? A few people posted that they love that seat and that is the seat I wanted to get dd next.

Isn't the Regent usually last longer and is a bigger seat than the Frontier or the GN?

Just wondering how you "know" this? It has been rumored (and dispelled by Sarah Tilton) .

"As of today there are no formal plans to discontinue the Regent. Babies R Us stopped carrying the Regent when they started carrying the Frontier. To them (BRU) the seat became discontinued)

However - the Frontier has caused some canabalization of the Regent. While there are no definite plans today, that doesn't mean that with growing demand of the Frontier that the Regent's continued offering be reconsidered at some point down the road.

Thank you

As far as lasting longer- the regent actually lasts the shortest- with a six year expiration (however it does have the highest harness slots). The Frontier has a 9 year expiration in booster mode and I believe the nautilus is 8 in booster.

I know that Sarah said it isn't true, but I am concerned by the fact that Right Start, BRU, Buy Buy Baby, and other retailers all stopped carying it. I fear that that means it either has been discontinued or it will be discontinued due to lowered sales (since these retailers have stopped carrying it).

The Frontier is 9 years for both the harness and the booster. The Nautilus is 6 years for the harness and the high back booster and 9 for the no back booster.

I thought both the frintier and nautilus had 6 years on the harnessed mode?

(and sorry- just re-read what I typed, wow, it's time to go to bed!)

I don't know it for a fact. I was just going off of what I have heard on a few carseat chatboards and on sites.
Now I am really confused.

Yes, I was talking about harness slots not the exp of the seat.

Shortly after Tilton denied the Regent was being discontinued, I believe they decided to discontinue it, and by shortly, I mean, less than a week. LOL.

I think it has been confirmed that the Regent is being discontinued, and I'd bet that if it is, it's because it doesn't sell well enough.

I LOVE my Regent and the covers on the Frontier still stink. I'll get a dedicated booster when I get to that point. For now my 2 year old who's already 40 inches tall it's a much better fit for us. I'll worry about the booster when I get to that point in YEARS there will probably be something new on the market that works for us.

The Frontier is good for 9 years though for the whole thing (the GN has 6 years on harness and high back, 9 years on low back).
