Hi all,
I haven't been on here in a long time! You all were such a great help when were were looking for a new car seat for my ODS 2 years ago. Now we need a different seat for my 2.5 yr old YDS, 35lbs.

Our ODS 4.5 is in a Regent, and I am not ready for him to go to a booster seat. Our YDS is in an Evenflo Triumph 5, ffing. The straps are getting too tight and there isn't anymore to pull out. So we need a new one.

When we were doing research 2 yrs ago I thought that there were some new seats that were almost ready to be on the market, but we couldn't wait for them. Can anyone tell me which ones to start researching now? Any help would be great. Thanks
Julie

Apex65 - wide seat, designed for bigger (wider) kids. It must have support from the vehicle (high seatback or adjustable headrest) up to the child's ears. 65 pound weight limit on the harness, converts to a high back booster.

Graco Nautilus - narrower seat, fits the really little (1 and 20) kids well. Some bigger kids are fine, some find it too small. 65 pound weight limit on the harness, comverts to both high back and backless booster.

The Regent you are familiar with. It has recently been discontinued.

Britax Frontier - another big seat, good for big kids. Approximately the same top harness slots as the Nautilus, so it's usually outgrown at the same time. Converts to a high back booster. Some people find it hard to install, and it has the long belt path and short belt path like the Regent does.

There are a number of HWH convertibles, as well. Are you at all interested in them? One is a very narrow seat (on the outside, still room on the inside) that is good for 3-across situations. I don't know if you will have any of those.

Thank you for you reply! Answer to you question, I hope we don't need 3 across! Both my DH and I have said that we are finished at 2! I hope we don't have any surprises.

What car will you be installing in, will it be moved to other vehicles frequently, and what is your budget?

It will be installed in a '02 Chevy Malibu. We would have to install it in Grandma's car once in a while, '04 Toyota Camry. Our BUDGET.... well, we want the best seat that is going to last us the longest. We are willing to pay for it. That is why we will only be buying one car seat. That being said I think that the Regent was on the top of our price range when we bought it 2 years ago.
