I finally got around to taking some pics of the kids in car seats.
Mia, my 8yo is 95 lbs and 4'5" but passes the 5 step test so she doesn't ride in a booster anymore. I just took some pics of her in the Parkway for reference.
Ian is 4yo, 42 in and 39 lbs.

Hope that link works- My first time using that site

LOL, your dd looks really thrilled to be taking pics!!! BTW, the Parkway appears to fit your ds very nicely. How much room does he have left in the MA? About an inch? He's about the same size as a 4yr old I have in daycare, just T is a bit heavier at 41lbs.

Quick question on your MA...what cover is that??? Is that Granite?

LOL Yeah she's really too big for the seat (even though it says 100 lbs and 5' tall) but I wanted to compare it to her brother.
Ian has probably about 2-3 in before his ears will be level with the seat back.
The cover I have on the Marathon is Arctic Cat :) I absolutely LOVE it. DH wouldn't let me get the Cowmooflage so this was our compromise :)

He may have 2-3" in that respect, but he's going to outgrow it well before then. Once his shoulders go above the top slot...he's outgrown it. And based on those pics...he's got about 1" of torso from what I can tell.

OK, couldn't tell what pattern it was. It's not one I've seen...I have a Granite cover coming, and wondered if it was the same...I thought yours looked lighter but you just never know!

On page 30 of the Marathon user guide, it states: " Important: Once the top slots become necessary, the child may continue to use the restraint until the top of the ears become level with the top of the restraint shell or child's weight exceeds 65 lbs."
So he has a litle more time in it :)

Actually, he can't. Britax has stated definitively that it is outgrown when the shoulders are above the top harness slots.

I just called Britax to verify this and they are in the process of "rephrasing" the user guides for the Marathon, Regent and Roundabout to include the phrase " or height exceeds 49in,53in, 40in respectively or harness slots are below the child's shoulders". It is already in the user guide for the Decathlon and Boulevard.
Thanks for the clarification. I was going by what the user guide stated. I'm going to have to check the harness straps on Ian this morning because he is very close to the slots being below his shoulders.
Darn, I was hoping I'd get a couple more months out of the Marathon.

Yeah, that was really bad wording on their part. I wonder how many kids have outgrown their MAs but are still riding in them because of it.

Based on the pics...it looks like he's got room to grow before becoming even...and even then...he's fine till he goes ABOVE them. I bet you'll have close to a year in it, if not more. If he has as much room as I think he does.
