Eddie Bauer Infant Seat

Quick couple of questions... I would personally never use this seat but a friend of mine is considering it because she likes the stroller it comes with

I'm trying to talk her out of it and into a Graco or Chicco.... Is the handle required to be down? And is it a 22 lb seat?

The Eddie Bauer Sure Fit?

It's the same seat as the Safety 1st Onboard. It's suppose to be a pretty decent seat. No clue on the handle, and some models of the Onboard go to 35 lbs, some go to 22 lbs.

Dorel tested all their seats last year to allow for the handle to be up. This change is retroactive. So, any Dorel seats now allow use with the handle up in the car.

The travel system you linked to includes a Designer 22. So, the seat has a 22# limit. It's pretty average for a 22# seat. It does have a front adjuster, but the adjuster strap is sewn on, which means you have to unthread the harness from the hips to change the harness height.

And evenflo's all require the handle to be down, right? And they adjust from the back? (That's her second choice...)

Some Evenflo's adjust from the front and some adjust from the back. All require the handle be down and 1.5" of clearance between the handle and the vehicle seat. This means 2 things - 1, they are a huge space hog. 2, they are commonly misused because parents don't put down the handle. The handle is a huge deal in the Evenflo seats because kids have died as a result of the handle shattering in a collision when left up. (The instructor who taught my course when I was certified had actually seen a case as a first responder where the handle had split when it collided with the seatback. The one edge created a jagged shard sticking out and it punctured the child's neck. The child died due to massive blood loss. :() I say this just to drive home the fact that if they choose to get an Evenflo seat, they must put that handle down and understand that it truly is a life and death instruction.
