Question Do you think this is worth it?

R is 3.5 years old, just about 30lbs, 13-13.5 inch torso. He has about 1.5 inch left in a scenera. The cargo in Grandma's truck is going to expire so needs to be replaced. Extended harnessing is not really necessary as He won't be 40lbs until after 5 years old and this is a seldom used spare. He needs to be forward facing with grandma so that he gets buckled correctly. He sits in the center of their truck and usually has my other two in parkways on either side of him.

Do you think I should get the $39 cosco highback for that purpose or would that be a total waste of money? It is a good price but I don't want to spend hard earned money and regret it.

According to carseatdata the Cosco HBB has 15.3 inch top slots. THe Scenera has 14.5 top slots (Though I think I measured mine at 15). I'm tempted to say get an Evenflo CHase with 16.8 inch slots. But.... it does sound like you'll have almost a couple more inches to grow.

I have an expired, naked COsco HBB sitting in my den. I just sat Sofi (13.5inch torso) in it. She is just a tad over the bottom slots. So, I don't know how fast your child's torso grows, but it may not be worth it.

Thanks for doing that for me. You know, I forgot that I haven't measured him or put him in the scenera since he potty trained. (yay!!) I just remeasured his torso and it is only 12.5. I think I will buy one and give it a try in the car. It just might get him to 40lbs.
