When exactly did Britax make changes on the Regent?

After answering a question over in the installation forum, and stated that I had to use the recline bar and all the other lovely post-advisory rules on my 05-30-3007 Regent someone mentioned that the changes did not take effect until after 06-18-2007 (I *think*) so my Regent would still be considered a pre-advisory.

Britax sent me all the new "stuff" shortly after the advisory, so we have always went by post-advisory rules. I have no problem with using the recline bar or installing the different ways, so it is really no big deal to me. I will continue to install post-advisory, since Britax is the one who sent me everything once the advisory went out. Just curious though as to the exact date and is my Regent really a pre-advisory?

I believe the date was 6/18/07 so you have a pre-advisory regent, with the post-advisory fix on it so you have to use the post-advisory instructions. I received the kit for one of my regents, but decided not to put it on. We don't have latch in my car and I didn't really need rubber strips on the base so I didn't really feel it was necessary. We did follow the post-advisory installation instructions for a while until just this past year when my DD's shoulders went above the top slot with the recline bar used. I reinstalled the seat using no recline bar, long belt path and tether and my DD's shoulders were below the top slot.

Yes, you have a pre-advisory Regent. However, per Britax, if you install any part of the fix kit (the longer LATCH strap or the sticky strips on the bottom of the seat), you must follow the post-advisory installation rules.

I have a pre-advisory seat and intentionally didn't install the kit so that I could keep the more flexible installation options. I'm glad I did, too, because the only way I can install the Regent in my 98 Escort is LBP w/o recline bar.

Really? Crap, how did I miss that?!?

I guess that clinches it for getting rid of our Regents, unless someone is close to Dayton and willing to show me how on earth they manage to get them in SPB with bar in an Impala and an Ody. Several of you have said it can be done, but despite being the go to tech here for difficult seats, I haven't managed what I consider to be an acceptible install yet!

Do you have a link/reference for when Britax said that? I honestly don't see how two sticky strips and a long latch strap that isn't being used can affect the install :(

Ok, this is not something I wanted to hear. I'm using the SBP and the previous owner put the rubber on the bottom and I have no idea if I have the longer tether, how can I get the shorter one. Though I don't see how a longer tether can make a difference and the rubber is already half off.

It wasn't the tether that was altered but the lower latch strap. I, too, don't see how some little rubber pieces will automatically make a seat unsafe to use the older installation instructions if someone were not using the redesigned latch strap. I guess it could be a parental decision on those seats as to whether you use the old installation instructions or the new ones.

IIRC, it was stated by Sarah Tilton and posted here by Sarah directly or possibly posted by a member who had attended a Britax technical update session in 2007 or 2008. It may also be stated in the transcript of the online CEU chat with Britax reps. hosted by car-seat.org last year. The CEU chat transcript is in the Articles forum if you'd like to sift through it. :)

05-30-3007 Regent

I love that you have a seat from the future. I am seriously jealous. :D

And Hevy, if you're referring to the seat I sold you, yes I put the longer LATCH strap on. I did it before they came out with the statement about not having to follow the "rules" if you didn't "fix" the seat. I'm sorry. :( Personally, I'd make the informed decision to keep using it the way it fits best.
