RFing toddler pushing with feet..

I know I'm not the only one who experiences this.
My 3 year old pushes with his feet against the seat back..and it loosens up the carseat. Just about every time we get out of the car..his car seat is loose because he pushes his feet out.

It's installed nice and tight..seatbelt locked..all good to begin with. He even does this with his Signo ..and I get that thing in the car so tight the whole car shakes when you try to move the seat (thanks to the lock offs).

Now, I know this is a discipline thing at his age..but, what do you suggest?

ETA...when I say "loose" ..I don't mean ..bad install loose. Still acceptable..but it still can't be good that he's doing this right?

More than an inch of movement at the belt path? If his seat is loose when he gets out, it's not safe. But I'm having a hard time figuring out how it gets that loose if it was that tight to begin with.

There isn't a whole lot of leg room in a RFing Recaro. Would getting a different seat be an option? I'm thinking one with more leg room, like a Radian or TrueFit. Or possibly a Britax, which has less leg room than the RN or TF, but you could Australian tether it, which would stop him from ruining the install. Of course, any other seat, it might not mess up the install just because of how one seat installs differently than another.

My daugher would push on the seat and lean her Marathon back, but it never messed up the install. I'm sort of confused about how it could change the installation, but I know others have said it does.

I told her to knock it off, but that doesn't always help. Can you brace the seat?

I've never heard that the signo can't be braced, but check your manual.

I also don't understand how it could loosen if it was tight to begin with, but I do believe you that it happens! Can you see the seat from the drivers seat so you can speak to him every time it is happening?

:yeahthat:

the recaro seats are notorious for giving bigger kids aboslutely no leg room. maybe he's genuinely uncomfortbale. i didn't even consider a signo for my DD, who is only 2, because of the legroom issue.....

It's not just the Signo though. He does it in the scenera too. And he has plenty of legroom in that seat.
Hmmm...maybe I'll just have to get stricter with what he's doing back there...

What make and model vehicle is it?

You say the seat belt is locked, does that mean you pull the shoulder belt all the way out and lock it or does it lock some other way? If you have a "lightweight locking latchplate" I would try a locking clip.
