Yay for Georgia!

We're definitely not the best state for use - but at least some people get it. DH is currently in police academy and the other day they had an instructor come in and talk about child safety laws. He actually helped right some of the rules/laws for GA. DH brought home some brochures he was passing out. It actually stated on there that rear facing is safer and that the child shouldn't be turned forward until they reach the maximum weight/height limit for the seat! DH told him that DS1 was still harnessed at the age of 6 and that DS2 was just recently turned forward due to weight - he said the guy smiled and said that it sounded like we knew what we were doing! :D

Now if we could just change the 6 and 40 law! In GA they can come out of all types of seats at the age of 6 and weight of 40 pounds.

Is the law in GA really 6yr or 40lbs? I live in GA too and I could have sworn in was 8 and 80lbs! lol At least that is what I've been telling everyone I see that asks why all of my kids are still harnessed or in HBBs and so far everyone I'd told has taken it as fact :p
I've also been telling them that it's illegal to have a child under the age of 14 in the front seat so maybe I've just been pulling my wish numbers out of my head! :D

It appears to be UNDER 6 (which I read as 'up until 1 day before your 6th birthday') must be in car seat or booster. And then there are LOTS of exceptions. For example, if you're under 6 but 4'9" or over you can be just in a belt. Or if you're under 6 but over 40lbs AND there is no lap/shoulder belt available you can be just in the lap belt.

That's cool that that is what they're teaching in the academy. I hope it makes a difference in the end. And good for you and your DH!
