Question Radan XT questions

Do the head wings push the head forward at all? I know some people think the blvd does this.

Also, do any of the XTs have the velcro on the straps and cover? (I like that feature on my 65)

Are there things any of you don't like about the XT that would persuade me to just get the 65? I have a 65 and really like it, but I think my son wants the rio and I like the idea of more SIP. (actually, he asked for a green seat, but alas, there aren't any current green seats. He liked red better than grey)

Is it still just as easy to fold with the wings? Do they stick out? It seems like they might make it hard to fold/carry.

Any other big user differences? Thanks!!

The XT does not have the Velcro, but I always just tuck the clips in the 'fold' of the seat, so it is essentially the same thing. My daughter doesn't use the wings yet, but I can't imagine them pushing her head forward, they are pretty flat. We have rio and because of the mesh type fabric, anything Velcro will catch on it. I think that might be the biggest downfall for me. But I would still purchase this seat again! We have not folded it since buying it, but the wings don't seem to stick out as much as you would think they would. Sorry I can't compare to the 65, but Ive only had the XT!! I'm happy they she will have the SIP when she's older!

I have the newer 65 and an XT

No, the wings do not cause head slump RFing or FFing

There is no velcro on the XT's that I know of (nor on my new 65-DOM 1/09)

The only thing I don't like is not being able to use the wings for very small kids. When my kids couldn't use them per the manual (they were on the 2nd from the bottom slots), they had to be pushed all the way up. However, the bottom of the wings were still touching my kids head and it was positioned in a way I wasn't too crazy about.

That is the only downfall I can think of. It seems to fold just as well as the 65

HTH!

My newer 65 (DOM 9/08) has velcro, yet the older one (DOM 8/08) did not. (Link in sig with photos.) Go figure. Basically they were phasing it out at that point. I had an email exchange with Russ on the velcro issue. The only feedback they had gotten about it was negative--sweaters getting caught on it, for example. They decided that people didn't like it, so they did away with it.

No head slump here, though I've only used it RFing so far (with the wings) but I can't see it causing any slump. It still folds flat, you move the wings all the way up and it doesn't affect the folding at all. They don't stick out more than the bottom of the seat folded up, at least I don't remember them sticking out any more, if they do it's only slightly--not enough to notice.

I love the XT, we have the nassau and it's great. If you want the extra SIP, go for it, otherwise the 65 is fine.

Man, I'm so bummed the rio is mesh!!! I love the soft fabric of our Granite radian 65. What to do!! DS has asked about his new red seat 3-4 times today already since I showed him the pics and asked his color preference. Pretty sure the mesh wouldn't bother him, just me

Thanks for the other replies. Sounds like most of you like the XT, so we will likely go that route. Thanks!!

There is velcro on the harness covers.. I dunno if that's what you meant at all.

I like the cover, the soft suede is nice too, but I don't find anything wrong with the mesh. And I LOVE the color of my Rio! :)

I don't find that the wings push the head forward when RF or FF.... But I also don't find that they do with my new style Boulevard.

I think that what is meant by velcro is the velcro on the harness straps, used to hold them out of the way when loading/unloading the child.
