can't get the seat tight - toyota matrix - evenflo triumph

We have a Toyota Matrix and are installing an Evenflo Triumph DLX rear facing for my 16lb 9 month old. We are using the latch. We're having trouble getting the seat so that it will not wiggle at all. It feels loose towards the back of the seat (front of the car).

Any suggestions? Does it have to be completely immobile?

That is normal for a rearfacing convertible :)

As long as you have less than 1 inch of movement back and forth and side to side AT THE BELT PATH, the 'tightness' is ok. There will be a lot of give at the top of the seat toward the front of the vehicle.

Are you familiar with the recommendation to keep your child rearfacing as long as possible? :)

oh good. we are certainly at that point. it hardly moves at all along the belt path.

we def plan to keep her rearfacing as long as possible!! Thanks for asking - if I didn't know I would certainly want someone to tell me!
