Car Seats in a Pontiac Vibe?

DH is considering a Pontiac Vibe. My 41 inch, 40lb-3 year old is in a Regent, and my 31 inch, 22lb-18 month old is RF in a Marathon.

Does anyone know if either of these seats will fit in a Vibe? We also have a new baby due in May, and it's reasonable to assume that in a pinch, we may have to put all 3 children in that car at the same time. We are probably going to get a KeyFit for the baby. Would those three fit? I'm guessing they wouldn't, but figured it's worth a shot. If those three won't, how about two Radians and the Keyfit? If this vehicle does work out, we'll get extra seats and we're considering those.

I've seen the inside of a new Vibe and they actually look really roomy, I was surprised. It has some nice trunk space too. I think putting 3 across (minus maybe the Regent) would work. The Radian is great for that.

The Vibe and Toyota Matrix are essentially the same car. So if anyone knows about them fitting inthe Matrix also that would be helpful.

The Radian DOES work in a Vibe! My MIL has one and we used my Radian in it (center and outboard) when we were visiting. The LATCH install is GREAT, and the seatbelt had less than 1" of movement after a moment of tugging ;-)

I agree, that for three across should work, especailly with one or two Radians. Oh, I just read you were thinking two Radians and a Keyfit- I would say that sounds VERY do-able!

Whee! :) That's great to hear. :) We haven't decided on it yet (still test driving and working on numbers), but it's DH's dream car, so we're hoping it will work.

I have a 2003 Vibe (same body I believe) and would not use the Radian in it FF with a seatbelt install. It seemed ok (just a little movement) when we first installed it, but it quickly became too loose. Mind you, neither DH or I are CPS techs, but he's very strong and was really working hard to shove it in deep and tighten the belts. We tried it both outboard and center, FF only. I thought the Radian base bottom area was just too small a footprint and too smooth to really "dig" into the seat like other carseats seem to.

Maybe you'll have better luck, though! To me, it wasn't worth spending more time trying to get installed right (we only have one child anyways, I just thought it would be nice to have more room for adult passengers in the back). I returned it and bought a Regent since I wasn't going to spend all that $ on a Radian just to have to stop using it when my DD reached the 48 lb LATCH install limits.

Anne
