Tall child in small car

DD is kind of tall for her weight. She's almost 10 months, 18 lbs 7 oz, close to 29". She's in a Chicco KeyFit30 right now. I want to keep her rf and harnessed as long as possible. We have a 2 door cavalier. Price is a concern, but not a priority. I've been looking at both the TrueFit and SKR, and I also hear Britax is very good. What seat would you recommend for our situation? (one of these or any other seat)

The TF is the tallest convertible on the market right now, so will last the longest height-wise rear facing. It has the removable headrest which you may be able to leave off for a little while (it has both height and weight limits on when it needs to go back on). It can be installed up between 45 and 35 degrees (a bit more upright) for an older child with good head control, which will give you a bit more room front to back in the back seat.

The Radian is a nice, low-profile seat that will make loading the child easy. However, it pretty much installs at whatever angle it wants to install at. There are some tricks to tweak it a bit, but there's not too much you can change it. Because of this, it tends to take up quite a bit of room front to back. If you put it in the center seat, the top of the Radian will sort of come up over and between the two front seats, so it will fit better there than outboard. I have (well, had) a Radian installed as upright as I can get it in the center rear of my Civic (4-door). The front seats are moved up a notch or two, but not bad. The Radian has the second-tallest shell of convertibles.

Britax seats sit up high on a base (the Radian and TF don't), which may make getting your child in and out of the seat more difficult. The shells are shorter and top harness slots are lower, so they may or may not last long enough to get your child to appropriate booster age.

Hiya! I also have a 2 door Cavalier. We have fit several seats RF in this car! The Marathon fit GREAT RF in the center of the back seat with a lap belt only install as well as fitting in between the 2 front seats GREAT! My DH (this is his car) was able to recline the drivers seat all the way back without hitting the seat at all. We have also fit it behind the drivers seat RF, but it was VERY upright, right on 30 degrees.

However the TrueFit didn't fit quite as well. It seemed to hit one front seat or the other RF in the center. It did fit though, just not as well.

As for the Radian, I can see it being a GREAT fit as well with as slender as it is. I have never tried it though as I have never seen or played with one.

Another GREAT option for a 2 door car would be a Evenflo Triumph Advance. It fits GREAT RF in a 2 door car & still leaves tons of room for the passenger.

I have pictures of my Marathon RF in my DH's 2001 2 door Cavalier as well as pictures of my Evenflo Triumph Advance RF in my 1997 2 door Subaru Impreza!

Marathon in Cavalier, this shows it in between the 2 front seats.

Here is my son in it at about 20ish months!

Sorry the pics are not better. It is hard to take pics of a car seat RF in a 2 door! The MA is a GREAT fit though in that car! I can try to get pics of the TrueFit if you're interested. I unfortunatly do not have any at the moment.

Thank you! I think we're going to go by BRU this weekend and try a True Fit in my car. Even if the MA fits better, as long as the TF works, I like the extra inch clearance and it's a lot less money! Thanks again!

The True Fit should fit wherever a Marathon fits (front to back, anyway. :) ) Because it has no base it can take up a little less room while providing more room for the child.

My niece is in one and they love it. Good choice!
