Question Radian top slots 17"- is that the consensus?

I know that SK claims 18", but haven't most people measured and come up with 17" for top harness slots on the Radian?

Is it the same for the XT?

I definitely got 18", to the top of the slot, without the cover. There is foam by the child's tailbone, and that foam is slightly curved, as if to conform to the anatomy slightly. I measured not on the curve, but on the flat part of the seat.

I most certainly get about 17.5, but that's with the cover on (but compressed.)

However consensus is that the XT loses 1/2 to 1 inch because of the headwings and comfort foam (though the foam is removable to eke out another 1/2 inch or so.)

I get 17 on mine, and my 18.5 inch torsoed dd was a good 1.5 inches above the top slots. I get 17 on my Marathon, and she fit for a year longer in the Radian because it's so much more upright, though...go figure. (I get about 18 in the Frontier and she is much less far over the top slots than the Radian).

Definitely 18" for me (well, something like 17 7/8").

That's a 3/07 DOM Granite cover. I was pushing down on the cover slightly. Piper with a 16" torso has a couple of inches of growth, she's just over the second to top slots.

Wendy, my DS's torso is 13.5. Quite a bit of room left, huh? I want an XT, though, and that costs me, what, an inch or more of torso height?

here are my pictures. I measured with the cover on starting at the seam where the back and flat part of the seat meet.

Did you compress the cover? You have a very cushy cover, whereas mine is the regular 65 Granite cover. That would make quite a bit of difference, I should think, in a measurement. Plus a child will be compressing the cover with their weight.

It also looks like you are measuring from a bit higher up, where it looks like the seat meets the back, but really, the seat is lower. The shell is curved where they meet, making it harder to get an accurate measurement.
