Anyone else like the Flex Loc better than the Key Fit?

I spent the morning playing with gear at BRU, and while I was trying to talk myself into the Key Fit, I just don't like it as much as I do the Flex Loc. The seat is wider, heavier and I don't like the handle. True- the cover on the the KF and the infant insert is VERY nice, way nicer than the FL. But all 3 of my other kids were 6lbs at full-term, and they are swallowed in a wide infant seat. And I like the adjustable head piece thing on the Flex Loc without having to rethread the harness.

I want to love the Cortina travel system, and almost talked myself into the Race pattern, but just don't love that darn seat

Anyone else prefer the FL, or is there something major that I'm missing about the KF and should know about? If anyone thinks there's a safety advantage to one or the other, I'd love to hear about it, too.

I prefer the BabyTrend. I put DD in both at BRU the other day. There's pics floating around in the 30 pound BT thread; I can repost them here if you like.

She has more shell height left in the KF, maybe 2 inches more? You should check the official measurements if it's important to you. But she still has room width-wise in the BT, and her shoulders are getting squished in the KF. It's like there's SO much padding in the KF cover that it takes up all the space.

The BT is only rated down to 5 pounds, but it fits babies not much over that well. My DD was 8 pounds at birth, but I saw a photo someone else posted on here of her little baby. You might need to use some receiving blankets, but the harness fit is lovely.

I also like the no-rethread harness and the headwings on the BT. I don't know if it actually makes a safety difference, but I feel like having the headwings would help keep baby's spine in alignment in a side impact.

Did you look at the 30 pound BT? The cover is much nicer on that one than on the 22 pound version. Pretty, too.

Do you have LATCH? The BT installs like a dream with lower anchors. In some vehicles with widely spaced seatbelt anchors, it can be a bit of a problem. I couldn't get it tight enough in DH's car because of the narrowness of the belt path. I was able to find a Latch-Loc base, which is wider at the belt path, and that took care of the problem.

Just make sure that the buttons on the FL handle aren't sticky...I get more parents coming in to complain about that issue...but otherwise, it's ok, especially now that it's a little bigger with the 30lb/30in limit

If they'd allow the handle to be used up and ditched the puzzle buckle, I'd recommend it a lot more.

See, even the 22lb vs 30lb doesn't bother me- my kids are slow growers (my 6yo is 33lbs, her almost 9yo sister is 45) and we don't use an infant seat more than 4-5 mos, anyway. My kids are about 15lbs, tops, by then.

I have the 22 pound version (the 30 just came out). We stopped carrying it around 14-15 pounds just because it got too heavy. I just like the cover better on the 30 pound version, that's all.
