Is the Aurora True Fit black or purple?

It's black. I've only seen pics here, but it looks like the center is similar to Britax's Onyx.

That's the one I want if I were getting a TF.

Black with the center being silver. You can see it in my signature and here's a pic of it as well. :)

I like it more than I thought I would. I still would love a monet but I think it will get dirty really fast and I hate having to hand wash things.

Same here! Does anyone have a pic of it without the infant insert?

I love the Blue Aurora as well, but it looks like that is only available in the ARB TF.

Just wanted to confirm that that pic is indeed without the infant insert. It can't be used ff'ing so was safely inside the house when I took that pic.

Thanks! The Symphony infant insert cant be used when FF either. Just out of curiosity, wha about an infant insert would make it unsafe to use when FF, but not RF?

Maybe because the infant insert has to come out once the child reaches a 22lbs and the child has to be at least 22 lbs to ff? So if your child is still small enough to use the infant insert, they should be rfing. I could be waaaayyyyyyy off here though. lol

The infant insert in the case of the True Fit is well padded and cushy. With a light child they aren't going to compress the padding much, and rf'ing seats behave differently in comparison to a ff'ing seat as well. The insert has to come out at 22lbs regardless of which direction a child is using the seat - likely because of the compression issue...

Kids have to be 23lbs to ff in the True Fit, so even without the warning to not use it ff'ing, they'd be over the weight limit anyways. :)

So far as the Symphony, I haven't seen one IRL so can't say. I know the EFTA has the same rule with it's padding, and my guess is partly compression, and partly that it changes the angle the back and bum are at ever so slightly - increases distance between the back of the child and the shell of the seat. So maybe it also influences head excursion or chest G's? I'm really not sure so far as reasoning... too bad we don't have a go-to person with carseat manufacturers every time we want to know the why's.

Ya know, that actually makes sense.... Ah well, only being able to use the infant padding while RF will encourage me to keep her RF as long as possible....she loooves to be snug as a bug and that padding really helps!
