What kind of latch plate does an Explorer have?

The title explains it all. Also, has anyone ever had trouble installing a carseat in this vehicle, and if so what did you do to fix it? This is in the outboard position.

It depends on the year. Older Explorers I've had to use locking clips on (even says on the seat belt itself that you must use a locking clip), but I haven't done many installs in newer Explorers. Post the year and we should be able to figure it out.

In a 2002 Explorer, I have had no problems installing a Graco SnugRide (center or outboard) or a Britax Boulevard (center or outboard). They both fit beautifully.

The Graco SnugRide fit so well in the center that I was able to shake that HUGE car when I tugged on the base. It was amazing.

My father used to have a 1995 Explorer, but I never installed any carseats in it. I don't know how easy that would have been. Sorry!

I have and it was a nightmare. I'm not sure of the year, but it was an older model and the problem was that the buckle was forward of the bite. I was installing two MAs, but it was really hard to get the seat belt flat and into the built in lock offs.

BTW, it was also dark and kinda cold (although I wasn't because I was wrestling the darn seats and seat belts), and the wind was blowing the smell of the hog yard toward the house/driveway.

When my cousin and her husband bought their newer Windstar, they called me because they thought they'd done something wrong as it was super E - Z to install them in the van compared to the Explorer. [They thought they'd done something wrong. ]
