UGH! Britax buckles

I've seen the new crotch buckles (no metal showing) on a Frontier in BRU. I've seen them on here people have recieved. Why can't I get a new one too?! I called and specifically asked about it, and she said "we'll see what you get, that buckle is still in testing" She did say I could call back if I got the "old" one. It came in the mail today, and I still has the metal showing. So.... I guess I'll be calling Britax tomorrow.

I know, yours is one of the ones I've seen here. I wonder why I didn't get a new one  That's ok...I'll be calling today to find out. I also want to get new ones for the 2 BVs we have.

Re: UGH! Brtiax buckles

I finally called Britax. The woman said They sent me the harness/buckle that goes with my seat. I couldn't have the ones with no metal touching the ahrness because it didn't go with my seat. I think this is the same woman that told me before they may still be in testing and that if I don't get the new one, I could call back and request it. I asked if it frays again will I get a new harness, even if it's over the 1 yr warranty. She said she couldn't gaurantee it, but hopefully it wouldn't fray again. Uh....isn't that the reason they covered the exposed metal??? Because they found it was fraying the harness??

Does the warranty last until 1 year from the DOM or from when you bought it? I don't think I have a proof of purchase anymore. It is DOM 7/08 and bought 8 or 9/08. I think it was 9/08.

Pretty sure I sent it in.

I know. When she told me that, I knew I'd already seen one on a Frontier at BRU and one send to someone here  I used to think Britax had great customer service, now I'm not so sure.

Probobly new ones. But my issues is, I shouldn't have to pay for it. It should be free since their crummy buckle frayed my harness.

Sarah Tilton.... Are you reading this??? Any thoughts???? Can I get a new buckle?? Please?

Re: UGH! Brtiax buckles

My Marathon that I just got a few days ago, DOM 3/22/09, is all plastic.

So my other Marathon, the one I'm pitching b/c it's broken, has all plastic tongues. DOM 11/17/05. Did they have plastic, then switch to exposed metal and now back to encased plastic?

Re: UGH! Brtiax buckles

Very strange. I called in about 2 weeks ago, described the problem I was having with my straps fraying (I had the exposed-metal harness), and told the lady that I had been told I could get a replacement set with the new style where the tongues were fully enclosed in plastic. She didn't bat an eyelash. I had registered the seat, so she looked up my info, and told me a new set would be in the mail by Monday (this was a Friday), free of charge. Sure enough, by the following Thursday, they had arrived and were the new style, with no exposed metal. She never indicated that there was a chance I wouldn't get the new ones, and she certainly never said anything about the new style being "in testing". I wish I could remember who I talked to, so you could maybe request to talk to her next time you called. They are much better than the ones with exposed metal...not only does it look like it will solve the fraying problem, but also the straps never get twisted in the tongues anymore.

BTW, mine has a DOM of 9/18/08, and I bought it in early December '08.

The started out with a "single click buckle" and that was all covered in plastic. When they changed to a "double click buckle" (Feb 2008 I think) the buckle was not totally covered in plastic. I believe they noticed a trend with fraying harnesses and it's because the metal rubs so much on the harness, so they got new ones again. They are double click, and covered in plastic.

Now I'm really beyond annoyed. Should I call back and hope for someone else? Do they have supervisors there that I can talk to?

I want to replace the buckles on all the MAs/BVs we have, but want to make sure we can get the new buckles first.
