It's a girl and I get to pick out a car seat!

My brother & his girlfriend found out today that they're having a girl!
I told them a long time ago that I would buy them a car seat. They have requested a convertible, so I'm thinking Monet TF? What would you get?

I wonder if the TF with ARB is going to come in anything girlier than Cranberry? I love the Cranberry but I wonder if after they see how those two patterns sell they'll release more? If you could I'd wait and see, since all the Monet TFs probably have pretty old DOMs right now. Or wait until you find a place that has the Monet come in with a newer DOM.

I love the thought of a TF for a baby, as it should fit from newborn all the way through the life of the car seat. But, I'm just hesitant about that old DOM on a gift, and also with the ARB model coming out I think I might wait for that.

I can't think of a better seat that fits newborns and is girly and will last a long time, though. :)

Congrats on your new niece!! The monet truefit is really pretty. The radian is the only other I would consider for a baby, and probably the 80 since the wings won't work for so long on the xt.

:yeahthat:

Princess radian or TF monet. Personally, I like the princess print better, but just MHO!

And that is all assuming your brother is OK with a girly seat? If he's not keen on it, then I'd get a cranberry TF. I love that cover the best of all the TF covers, and it could be used in the future for a boy if they have any more children.

Thanks everyone! My brother is fine with a girly cover. He told me to have fun picking one out!

I didn't realize that the Monet TF's would be old DOM's. Thanks for that tip.
When is the ARB coming out? Do we know yet? Wasn't it originally supposed to be March? I really wish there was a girly cover. The cranberry isn't girly enough for me.

I do love the Princess RN. They are all the way out in CO and I'm in WI, so I'm shying away from the RN because of the sometimes difficult installations, which I wouldn't be able to help them with.

I wish there was a girly EFTA!

Hey, what about the MCP? This one just occurred to me. I love the Chili Pepper cover and, according to Splash, it's a good fit on a newborn. Anyone know how they are to install?

I think some people have been getting 9-08 DOMs for the true fit. The one I bought in november or December was 3/08 and on clearance for $120. The car seat has a 7 year expiration instead of 6 so that help with the DOMs.

I think I'll wait a couple months to buy a seat. Hopefully something will change, for the better, with the TF DOMs by then. I was seriously thinking about the MCP, but it only harnesses to 40 lbs and I don't know about that. I tried to talk them into a SR 32, but they definitely don't think they want an infant seat. I just don't know. They live in CO, where it's cold a lot, I think they might end up wanting the convenience of an infant carrier. I explained to them that babies can't wear snowsuits in car seats, but they still want a convertible. Oh well, I guess. They say that they walk more than they drive, so maybe it won't be that big of a deal.
