How come I can not make a decision??!!

We can buy our friend's 2000 (I thought it was 2001 but I was wrong) sienna from them. It has about 115,000 miles on it. It is an le model with bucket seats, two sets of latch and 4 tethers. Our friend has been driving it for a year with little problem other than the catalytic converter needs to be replaced. They will replace it for us. Tires are great, engine works great. No other problems. The van is in very good condition. They want 6000 for the van. They are only selling it because the wife doesn't want to drive a minivan anymore and would like an suv type of vehicle instead.

I am nervous to purchase it because it is 9 years old, 6000 is a lot of money (to us), and I have read about engine sludge issues with these vans. I am nervous! The more research I do on minivans, the more trouble I am having deciding on a make and model to buy. Dh is leaving the decision up to me because this is going to be my van.

Should I just go for it?

I would be nervous because it has over 100,000 miles. I try not to buy anything that high. I bought my 2000 Windstar in 2001 at 20,000 miles. By 2008, I had 167,000 miles on it. It has major issues, the mechanic say it is time for it to go.

Honestly, don't let the miles scare you. DH is a mechanic and we've NEVER owned a car with less than 80,000.

My first car, a Sunfire, had 140,000 when we sold it. Our Jeep has 240,000. Our Grand Caravan that we just sold had 180,000. My van now has 120,000.

I wouldn't pay $6000 for it. Not because of the miles though. It's almost 10 years old. The most I'd pay for it would be $4000. I've been called cheap before though.

For every car with high miles that has problems, I can tell you about one with low miles that has problems. My dad owns a '99 Windstar with something crazy like 210,000. Minus a new engine it's fine.
