XT and comfy soft

I'm thinking ahead. We are taking a 1000+ mile road trip next month and I want to put DD2 in the XT. She loves her Como for the pillows but I think having her legs squished for 16+ hours will be too much. We are driving over night so there won't be a whole lot of stopping for the first half of the trip.

She hates the XT. In particular, she hates the head wings on the XT.

So, since she is RF can I move the wings all the way up and let her use the comfy soft instead? I am not worried about side impact protection. She will be in the middle of the second row and I got the head wings for the FF kiddos that use it (so far I have had five different kids in that seat since I got it.)

What do you think?

I just realized this was a "DUH" moment.

I know you are not supposed to use the wings on the first or second slot. For some reason I was thinking they were required for the third, which she is dead even with.

in fact, I'm betting that is one reason they have that headrest the way it is... so that the comfy soft is useable... it would look weird and not fit well if the comfy soft had to accomodate those wings and vice versa.
