Here is a follow-up question- also re my 05 Odyssey: I have 2 Nautilus carseats for my older sons- both still using the 5 pt restraint and am about to also install my graco snugride for a baby due in a few weeks. I really did not want to put the baby in the 3rd row center....I really wanted to put the nautiluses in the 3rd row on the sides. Is this safe- since I would have to use seatbelts this way? Also, I did not realize Latch was only good up until 40 lbs anyway.....

It's fine to put those back there... As the kids get heavier though I hope you can move them to positions with top tethers (the 05 Ody has no top tether anchors 3rd row outboard, and they can't be added)... top tethers aren't strictly necessary for the Nautilus at any weight, but larger kids can benefit from being tethered, it keeps their heads from flying so far forward in a crash.

Using the seatbelt is no less safe than using the lower anchors portion of LATCH. (The top tether always adds to safety.) In fact, LATCH actually has a weight limit on it, whereas seatbelts don't. The seatbelt is stronger than the LATCH system. A properly used seatbelt plus top tether is just as safe as properly used LATCH.
