I work at a Preschool in the one year old class. One of my parents parked next to me and while I was putting my 17 month old in his rear facing Marathon she tells me I can turn him around now. I just smiled and said we are choosing to have him rear facing until he meets the seat's height or weight limits. She tells me I'm being so unfair and he needs to turn around so he can see whats going on and so on. Well he is happy facing backwards, he can play with his 5 year old brother and he doesn't know any different. Besides he is safer and better protected ect. I went through the whole speach.

So I look over and she has her 17 month old little girl who weighs maybe 20-25 lbs in a Britax Cruiser! They quit making it in 2000! she straped her in while I was checking on the 5 year olds strap placement (he buckles him self and then I check) Her 2 year old was in no seat at all!!!!!!!!!!!!! She got in the car and drove off while I was untwisting one of 5 year olds straps. (thats another vent!!!!! the marathon straps twisting) I couldn't catch her and give her a stern talking to.

How DARE she tell me I'm being unfair when she is putting both her kid's lives in danger!!!!!! OMG!!!! I called my boss on the way home and she said she would talk to her in the morning but there isn't much they can do. WTH!!! I want them to call Social Services. I see it as child neglect and abuse.

They better call Social Services.

When you see her leave just call 911 with the licenses plate number, and explain that she has a 2 year old riding without a child restraint, and a 1 year old riding in an expired seat. Don't fight with her, though, because then she will know you called.

Social Services won't do anything about it. The police, though, can and will. Especially with a 2 y/o not riding in anything (I believe this is illegal everywhere in the US)

As a childcare provider we have to call our social services person before we call the police and run the situation by them first. Our social worker guy is good. I guess I could call after I leave the school and while she is on the road. She picks up while I'm leaving most days.

That's really, really sad. :(

If you work in a preschool, you might be required to report anything you suspect to be neglect, abuse or endangerement. I'd call a 2 year old in no seat definitely endangered.

Sorry, posted at the same time as you.

I'm sorry to say that the 911 operator will most likely laugh at you if you call it in :(. Maybe a non-emergency line will get you more help?

My daughter attends a cooperative preschool so technically I'm a teacher's assistant. We're required to report anything that we see that is putting a child in danger. That includes if we see a child with no car seat or a child being left in the car even if it's only for a minute. I hope they help you. If nothing else call the police and have them chase her down when she's leaving.

ERF Posters

Visit my grandson's website and print out a couple of the letter-sized posters we posted there. The show before and after photo's of Joel, 18 mos / 33 lbs, after being in a FF car seat in a crash...and he broke his neck!

Many people requested a flyer of some type, as a handout at car seat clinics, or to post in ped's office's. Put one on her windshield!! But the police idea will probably have more effect.

you can find the posters here: http://www.joelsjourney.org/ViewJoelsvideo.html

I had a 911 operator tell me to call the non emergency number, so I did and it was the same idiotic operator. He just didn't want to deal with me. So the next time I called I worded it as child endangerment and that got a bit more attention.

I basically agree with everything.

she needs to be reported for the 2yr old and informed on the risks associated with what she's doing with both kids.
