Is it absolutely necessary? I know you can't remove the HUGS but can you remove the belly pad?
Aaric's been having trouble with getting buckled still, and I'd hoped he'd have it down pat by now. But I havne't been actually watching him do it up - I just let him do it and if he doesn't get it, I go back and help him. But I was in the passenger side for once yesterday and could look back and see the problem as he started getting frustrated - he's getting the fabric of the belly pad squished between the male and female parts of the buckle.
So, I showed him what was happening so that he can pay attention to that from now on, but if he still has trouble with it, can I remove it?
Also, he's right at 50 pounds and on the inner crotch strap setting. As long as that's still comfortable for him, is there any reason to move it to the outer position? I know you can't use the outer one UNTIL 50 lbs, but its not "necessary" to use it at 50 lbs, is it?
