Hopefully this will help someone trying to choose a seat. Stats for K are in my siggy, and should be pretty close since they are from her 18mth checkup (she will be 20 months tomorrow). She does seem to have a long torso.
First seat was the Graco Comfortsport. She has outgrown this seat in every way possible. She is between 1 and 2 inches over the top slot (so no forward facing) and her head is over the shell (so no rear facing).
Next we tried the Maxi Cosi Priori. She is even with the top slots in this seat, but could only use it forward facing because the top of her head is even with the top of the shell (I am assuming they have the 1 inch rule).
Next we tried the Evenflo Triumph Advance. She fit well in this seat. Plenty of growing room in the harness and over her head. I'm not a big fan of the adjuster but that's a personal thing.
Next came the Cosco Scenera. She is even with the top slots on this seat. I don't remember how much shell was above her head, but I was thinking she would outgrow it soon.
That's it for the harnessed seats we tried. She did sit in a few boosters and I was shocked at how well she fit some of them. They have a compass (not sure what model) and it fit her well, as did the turbo booster. Both of the shoulder guides were right at her shoulders on the lowest setting.
Edited to add: she rides rear facing in a Britax Marathon daily and is even with the second from the top slots (at least on most days, some days she seems just under them). Also, she may have sat a little differently in each seat, and she may have fit differently in the car.
edited again to add: today's diaper of choice was a prefold and cover so it did raise her up a little more than some
