We had a gift card foe tru, so went yesterday. I took ds back to try to nautilus. It is to narrow for him.

While I was looking an employee came over to tell me that if I paid an extra $20, then tru would replace my seat if I crashed. Dh laughed b/c that is covered by our insurance.

We crashed 7yr ago and the insurance company replaced our no longer made $100 fisher price seats with $220 ra.

Edited: forgot to add she said it covered it for 15months.

I don't think that's all that bad a deal. Some people have high deductibles (my insurance, and I think others, covers carseats under comprehensive coverage, which is different than collision), and some don't carry collision or comprehensive at all. I wouldn't buy it for a Scenera, but it might be worth it for a Frontier.

Heck, that plan will cover a seat if you have normal wear and tear...broken foam, stuck adjuster, rip in the cover... they just send you a gift card for the value, basically. I always try to sell them for EFTA's because the harness is so painfully complicated, and the warranty is cheaper than shipping the seat back to Evenflo, lol.

Seriously, though, they are just profit for the company...I get in trouble for not selling enough of them because they are overpriced and kind of dumb. If they were like 10 bucks, we'd sell dozens of the things, but who's paying $30 (that's for a travel system..it can be $2.99 for a toy, about $17-$22 for a carseat) when companies have their own warranties and what not? :p

I like the 'replace in a crash' angle, though...hmmm.. might have to try it

Edit...you can be 2 and 3 year plans on Britaxes...like $50, I think? A lot, anyway!
