Does the Evenflo AMP even compare to the CLEK seats?

I know it's new, but I was wondering if anyone had seen one IRL yet.

My 2 big boys need backless boosters and I was going to just get them CLEKs, but if this is comparable it would save a bit. We don't have LATCH so I couldn't utilize that aspect of the CLEKs. However, if the CLEKs are much more comfortable, I wouldn't mind spending the extra money on them.

They are completely different seats (well, as different as a backless booster can be :p) with really different features.

The stand-out feature of the Clek boosters is the rigid LATCH. They are also extremely comfortable due to being made more or less like a vehicle seat, with foam all the way through. Their shape makes them fit little booster riders as well as big ones. They positions the seatbelt ideally.

I haven't seen an AMP in person yet, so I can't comment on the way it fits the belt or fits kids' bodies, but it doesn't have the padding of the Cleck boosters and it does NOT have rigid LATCH, or any LATCh, which, as I said, is the stand-out feature of the Clek boosters.

I know the main thing for the Cleck boosters is the LATCH, but my car doesn't have LATCH. Is it still worth it to get the Cleck seats?

IMO, no.

I'd try out some of the more inexpensive backless boosters - the AMP, the high rise, the ambassador and any other backless boosters you can find local to you and pick the ones your kids prefer.

I think the Clek ARE more comfortable, but NOT $50 more comfortable! If it was maybe $10 more, I'd say "go for it", but that's a lot of money to spend to not be able to use the feature that's most expensive!

The Combi Dakota is another nice backless for bigger kids - though hard to find B&M.

My oldest's pick is the Evenflo Big Kid backless. That said, we've not tried a Clek.

I would also suggest a Combi Dakota. It's a really NICE backless, comfortable, large, positions well and is only about 1/3 the price of the clek.

I played around in the car seat area at walmart today. They have the big kid amp. It is just colored plastic and real cheap. The backless turbobooster is a much nicer seat for a similar price. I measure the inside area and there is just as much room inside as there is in the turbo. It might be deeper, I didn't measure that part.

I think I'm going to order the Combi Dakotas from Target. We need the depth here. I wish they'd carry them in stores. :p
