Nautilus Harness Questions

I think this is the right place to post this but if not, I apologize. I read a post on here not too long back about making sure that you are using the correct harness slots and how/where to adjust the head support on the Nautilus. I have searched and searched but now I can’t find it.

Basically it stated that if the shoulders were right at the slot, you should go up a slot and make sure that the head support is well above the slot. That this might look too high but was the correct usage. Well, we just switched our 2 yo, 30 lbs DS out of his Britax Boulevard and into the Nautilus about a week ago and since then it’s been bugging me that I might not have the harness set correctly. The harness is sitting right at his shoulders right now and the support is lowered to just above the harness slots. Is that correct??

If this post sounds familiar to anyone, can you please point me in the right direction or offer some advice.
Thanks!
Andrea

yes, sometimes when the headrest is adjusted correctly, it does seem like it is too far above the childs head, but that Is the correct placement. What you absolutely can NOt do is set the headrest OVER the harness, covering it....it always has to be above the slot the harness is coming out of. i hope that makes sense.
i assume your 2 yo outgrew the BLVD by height? Or do you have a 30 lb rfing canadian one?

We have the US RF 35/lb model but we replaced it for a couple of reasons. I felt like we couldn't get a good install in FF mode. The seat was in tight, but there was a big gap between the back of the Blvd and the car seat, except up at the top. And even with the passenger seat moved fairly far forward, there was only a little leg room. The Nautilus seemed to be a better fit in our SUV.

So with the harness, it is better to be at his shoulders or just above? Which is safer?

Ideally you want at the shoulders, but the problem with that is when we're not looking kids grow, and so if you blink their shoulders may go over. So it's fine to have it at, just keep an eye on his shoulders. And then yes, the headrest has to go up so it's not covering. I just switched between the harness and the booster mode for my 6.5 year old and I had to move the headrest up and down accordingly for the two modes. It's higher with the harness than it was as a booster.
