2003 mazda protege 3 across

My husband does not believe that our Mazda Protege could do 3 across if we needed. We currently have a true fit and a nautilus. I am not pregnant and don't plan to be a for awhile. I am just curious if it could be done with an a safeseat/snugride32. DS is 4.5, 46.5#, 43.5" and DD is 9 months, 17.5#, 28.5".

Is the 2003 the same as a 2000? We have a 2000 and I have fit 3 seats in it. Not a SS1, but others, including 2 big britaxes rf side by side.

I don't know if they are the same or not but that will give me something. I know it was the last year it was produced.

For such a small car, it really does have a decent sized back seat. I have a couple pics of seats in ours if that might help. Oddly enough, I can easily install our Regent in it (easier than in my minivan!), as well as our Britax convertibles (both rf and ff). With the Regent, you can only fit one other seat/person but back when both littles were rf I could fit them center and outboard and still have room for another person back there. I have also gotten two rf convertibles (Marathon and old Fisher Price Safe Embrace) and a backless booster. Its all a matter of which seats fit well next to each other.

DH could cram his butt between a HBB turbo and a snugride but it was not the most comfortable. I know there is no way to do 3 across with our current seats but DH thinks we should get a minivan. I am just not ready for a minivan though it would be helpful sometimes. I love my little car and want to keep until it dies. We are going to buy a house so any extra money will be used for that and then we will have to save for a car. I am just glad we don't have any car payments right now.

We have a 2002, and fit (all FF)

Nautilus / radian / FPSVD
Marathon / radian / FPSVD

I'm hoping to be able to swap out the FPSVD for another nautilus, but it may be just too wide.

We couldn't fit 3 across in my 1997 protege, which is why we traded that one in when we bought our van. I totally understand not wanting to get a van - we'll probably keep this car even if we trade in our sienna for a 15 passenger. You can't beat the gas mileage!
