Info on why not to use after-market stuff

I am looking for some links with good info on exactly why not to use aftermarket products with your carseat. My sister has a friend, due soon with her 2nd baby, and her registry has several no-no items. Sister thinks her friend will need more than the usual 'you shouldn't use x,y,z because this can happen email.'

I found a great article about the mighy-tite (yes, that is on her registry) but she also has a snuzzler, aftermarket shoulder harness pads, a piddle-pad, and the thick Prince Lionhart carseat protector.

Thanks.
