Question two marathon carseats in a lincoln towncar

I have a 1999 Lincoln town car. I also have a 3 year old daughter that weighs 35 lbs and is 38.5 inches tall. She has a sitting height (from butt to shoulder) of 14.5 inches. I have an 18 month old son who is 30 lbs and 32.5 inches tall with a sitting height of 13.5 inches. My daughter is currently in a cosco High back booster (using the 5 pt. harness still), and my son is in a cosco scenera. I want to get the kids better car seats with my tax return, and I think the marathons are a good choice. However, I am worried that two won't fit in my vehicle.

Does anyone have any advice?

Welcome to C-S.org :)

Your oldest is too heavy to rear face so combination seats are your best bet. You want a seat that converts to a decent booster and has a higher weight harness. Either the Graco Nautilus or the Britax Frontier would fit that bill. They harness to higher weights and convert to very good boosters.

The oldest is big but is safest rearfacing and should remain in a rearfacing convertible until he is 35 pounds. Choose a seat that will allow the child to have plenty of shell height to accomdate extended rearfacing. The Britax Marathon, Evenflo Triumph Advance, First Years True Fit and Sunshine Kids' Radian are all great seats.

Thank you so much for your response! My son has actually been FFing since 12 months... and so I went out to my car after I read your response and turned him around. Then I got to reading the instruction manual, and he isn't tall enough to face forward. Cosco scenera says they must be at least 34 inches to face forward. who would have thought that a 30 lb 18 month old would need to face the rear. What a great resource this site is, I have learned a lot today about car seat safety. I am for sure RFing my son until 35 lbs.

I think I have decided on the nautilus for my daughter, and the marathon RFing for my son.

Thanks again!

That's great! I'm so pleased we were able to help and that you will able to turn your seat rearfacing. (as you correctly deduced, i accidentally called your youngest your 'oldest' ;) )

You will be happy with both those seats. They will last a long time, and both are very user-friendly especially with installation.

My oldest has a Nautilus and his favorite features are the cupholder and the toy cubby :D
