News SafeGuard discontinuing Crimson Red cover!

I told you all how my car seat diva insisted on RED, so I shelled out the extra $60. Well, I got an email from Hipmonkey that they are no longer making red, so I can't get a red one from them!

I cancelled my order and ordered it from somewhere else, and paid $27 extra because of the shipping, even with a coupon. :thumbsdown: And, I won't get as new of a DOM.

But I wanted to warn you all, if you want a red SafeGuard Child Seat, you'd better get it now-- they're not making any more! (I can't believe they'd discontinue red but not that fugly "saddle brown.")

No way! I just got my red one.. *phew!* Any idea if they're going to start selling different covers? I miss the plush(and cute) covers britax has..

No idea.

I got mine, with an old DOM (not a big deal, though, since my kids are big anyway.) But it would be nice if they start selling pretty color covers as an optional accessory, wouldn't it? Green, blue, maybe purple or flowered for the girls...

Really late update on this, but I finally got my email back from SG cs..

"Hello Ally,
Sorry we missed your previous e-mail. A replacement harness for the SafeGuard Child Seat (Part # F17915) is $15.00. Please call 317-867-8287 with part number and credit card information. No new colors are coming. We chose to use automotive grade material and not base our covers on patterns.

I just talked to SafeGuard customer service and they said they sold out of the Red ones already. Their production run was Fall 2008, so maybe in fall they'll make another run of red ones. Then you could get another cover!

They're automotive interior fabrics so they're not doing the "pretty" designs.

I was hoping for red, but I'm settling for the "new grey" one.

Right, thats exactly what they told me. Aside from price, I think this is another reason SG's aren't so popular... Their covers leave something to be desired, especially if you're looking at that cute Britax next to it. While I enjoy that IMMI doesn't pander to us with cutesy covers, I'd love some more options. *sigh*

See, I'm not a fan of all the crazy Britax patterns. I like more simple stuff, so I LOVE the looks of the SafeGuard choices. But, I posted in another thread, that I heard SafeGuard was going to stop making their 2 seats totally. So, who knows?!
