Aerostar-rear seat carseat-Possible?

Hello everyone,
Thanks in advance for welcoming me into your fold. I have a 1993 extended Aerostar and an Alpha Omega car seat that currently fits nicely (rear facing) in the second row behind the driver. My problem is that we would like to be able to fit a second seat on the rear bench(front facing). I am not sure if this is possible as the local Ford dealership does not know either!! I will try to contact another dealership to find out further info...in the meantime any suggestions? The Ford dealership did say that they could install a tether for the two second row bucket seats, but were unsure about the third row bench. I truly appreciate any feedback. Thanks bunches, Claud

I don't see why not. I'd get those tethers installed for the 2nd row, though. Now, i don't know if they can install the tethers on the 3rd row, but other than the tethering issue, you should be able to install seats on the 3rd row.

You should have no issue with installing any car seat in either row. I agree get the tethers installed for the 2nd row for sure and see about the 3rd row.

You might not be able to get another Alpha Omega on the 2nd row but a Graco CarGo next to an Alpha Omega should work perfectly.

Go to BRU and they will let you play with car seat configurations out in your vehicle. All you have to do is give them your DL and you can take the seats out to your vehicle.

There are factory spots to install tethers for the 2nd row under the 3rd row bench (you have to cut the carpet). Though dh and I installed tethers for the 3rd row, they weren't factory marked (a little indentation and a T etched in the metal).

Thank you all very much for input, I have already scheduled for the second tether to be installed. I appreciate all the tips, especially the one re: BRU. My concern for the third row was that the back of the bench seat is lower than the back of the bucket seats in the second row (no headrest). I guess I would just use locking clips on that row. Thanks again

So long as you aren’t using a low-back booster or Cosco high back booster in the third row there’s no concern over having the top edge of the vehicle seat lower than the top of the car seat.

You’ll only use locking clips on a lap and shoulder belt—never on a lap only belt. I’m not sure what ’93 Aerostars have for rear seat belts, but keep this in mind.
