Out grown rear facing

So my new seat arrived today and it is gorgeous, lovely and padded, it has 15 inch top slots (my other seat has 14 inch slots) but my sons head is inline with the top of the shell. Does this mean he has out grown it rear facing? My other seat (swedish) is out grown when the tip of the ears are inline with the top of the shell. I am unsure of the rules on American seats. Is it ok to use it forward facing if his head is inline with the top of the shell? Thanks

As long as the tips of his ears are below the shell, he has not surpassed the weight limit, and his shoulders are below the tallest harness slot he is good to go :)

I hope I explained that so it is understandable! I have not had my daily "ration" of coke yet :D

Rearfacing, there needs to be one inch of hard shell above the top of the child's head. Front facing, it is outgrown when the tops of the ears go over the top of the shell (OR the weight limit is reached OR the shoulders go over the top slots, whichever is first).

Your seat is outgrown RFing already, and you don't have much time left in it FFing either. Can you return it, and get something like the Nautilus, that will have higher top slots, higher shell, and converts to a booster.

What Crystal (Josef+Regent) said applies to FFing, not RFing.

Cool thanks :) I thought it was out grown rear facing :( I got it shipped to me (in New Zealand) so it will cost a lot to return. Just goes to show that slot height isn't everything lol

I have a Recaro Young Sport that I will use eventually, his other seat (Brio Zento, Swedish seat) really hurts him so I was looking for a replacement so that I could keep him rear facing for longer.

Dh will have a fit when i tell him the new seat doesnt fit lol:whistle:

Its a Maxi Cosi Priori, the top slots are just above his shoulders rear facing, but the top of his head is definitely inline with the shell.

Bummer :(. One of us should have measured it for you before you ordered it :(...the Marathon is heaps taller...so is the Radian...so is the True Fit...so are the Recaro Signo and Como...

Oh well..do you like the seat anyway?

Yeah it is a bummer, the true fit wouldn't fit in my car, I was tossing up between the priori and the radian, should have got the radian lol I still might:whistle: I love the seat, it is a good weight, lots of different slot heights, seems reasonably easy to install & its nicely padded. It is about the same size as most seats over here, I will take some comparison pics of it with the Brio Zento (swedish seat) & the recaro young sport.
