What size noodle?

I'm looking for pool noodles, but am not sure what size to get. I see some that are 2.5" diameter and others that are 3.5" and 4" diameter, some have have a different edge (kind of scalloped, not a perfect circle). I know the solid ones are better than the hollow tubes, but what about diameter?

Also, do you pre-cut them, or do you haul the whole noodle with you to a check then cut the size you need at that time? If you pre-cut, what size?

Thanks! I may be checking my friend's seat and if they already have the child FF, I'm going to *TRY* to convince them to RF her, so I want a noodle handy just incase I need it... I have no idea what car seat or vehicle they have.

I'd buy the fattest one possible...the little ones are just squish-city and you often need several to do any good. (I haven't even seen any without holes in a couple of years now...they just use as little foam as possible nowadays... maybe the really good pool stores have better ones, but I haven't seen good ones in a while). You could cut it to a manageable length, like 18 inches, and then cut off more at the last minute if you need to (it's not hard, you can use a car key to cut it, or a plastic knife). If you can't even find pool noodles, the Safefit Leveler or the Sunshine Kids noodle are really a much denser foam and are really best anyway, even though they cost a bit more (they have to be cut down a bit, too, they are kind of long).

Good luck trying to get that kiddo back RF, too! :)

Thanks. The child is 16 months old, I have no idea if she's FF but I have a feeling she probably already is.

I can't find any noodles in any stores, but I was looking online and found all kinds of them, including the ones that are solid. I may visit a pool store (if I can find one nearby) before ordering online though to avoid shipping costs.

I don't know how expensive what you're looking at is, but considering shipping costs this may end up being cheaper. Especially if your BRU has one in store (one of ours does and one doesn't.)

Thanks! If I don't find any noodles in a store somewhere, I'll probably trek over to TRU/BRU and see if I can find that.
