Has anyone else noticed that the Kia Rio has started to make some noise in the automotive market? I’ve been working with Kia lately and everyone has been talking about the JD Power award they recently won. It came a shock to me cuz I like Kia cars but its not something from them that I expected. However, it is cool to see a car company working hard on improving their cars and their image for real. Anyone know what I’m talking about and agree with me?

While I noticed the '06 Rio now has standard front side airbags and side curtain airbags for the front and rear rows, I haven't noticed it doing markedly better in crash tests nor am I aware of great strides in reliability. Are you referring to initial quality scores from J.D. Power perhaps? I haven't looked at those figures for the Rio, sorry and don't pay a lot of attention to them for other cars either. Initial quality can be a hint of longer term reliability, but I tend to focus more on overall crash test performance and longer term reliability stats when shopping for a car personally.
