can someone remind me the airplane install tricks?

We're flying to Mexico next week with an MA and maybe a .... mind blank... I think we're going to buy one of those cheap seats, like $70 at WM... grrrr, can't remember the name. Anyway, the little one is in a TF and it's massive so we want to get a smaller option to travel with.
Soooo....
Is the trick that you flip the buckle one time so it's facing down? Is that the trick for ease of install and "out"stall? And is that just for the MA or both?

Thanks.

p.s. haven't had coffee yet...

That is the trick for the MA, because it tends to get wedged in there.

The trick for added comfort on any seat where a belt path is directly under/behind a kid and better ease of install is to ask for a belt extender, so you can have two buckles both on the outside and adjust as needed rather than having that hard buckle right under a kid or where you can't reach it.

Have fun in Mexico!

Besides flipping the buckle (or asking for a belt extender), I recline the plane's seat all the way while installing the carseat. Once installed, I bring the plane's seat back up from recline position. The seat seems to get a better install when I do it this way.

Note that the buckle flip is really only needed on the forward facing install as when installed rearfacing, the buckle is easy to get to under the cover.

Thanks for the replies!
The reason I ask is dh claimed last year thet the MA would not install on the plane (I was waiting with the kids, not on the plane) and he did use a belt extender.

And I remember the other one we're thinking of getting.... Scenera.

Any tricks for it?

Thanks again,

Morgan
