Question Replacing straps on Safeseat 1 SS1

Does anybody know if the harness assembly that you buy from Graco include the adjuster strap also??? I called and talked to someone in CS, but she told me that the strap was put in by a machine and could not be taken out or replaced. I asked her what I was to do if the adjuster strap started to fray or if something happened to it and was told the whole seat would have to be replaced?:scratcheshead: This is crazy to have to replace a seat instead of just selling a $10-$12 strap to replace one. Soooo back to my question...... the lady couldn't tell me, but thought it was just the upper harness sold with no chest clip. Does someone here know???

I think there was someone (I don't remember if she was here or on another board) that had an incident w/ a cat and a SS1. They told her that the adjuster strap was not replaceable and she bought a new seat, but then they sent her a new strap. I think the issue is that once you take the strap out, you can't get the same strap back through, just like when you replace the adjuster strap on a Britax seat.

I would try to call back and ask to talk to someone else about it, like a supervisor, to verify. As far as I know they don't sell the adjuster strap seperately, so you'll need to get one from them if you can get one at all.

Thanks.:) I tried taking the strap out while on the phone with the CS lady and I was able to put it back in. I may just have to deal with tan straps and a black adjuster for now.

A year ago I needed to replace mine because it was fraying. They told me it was factory installed and they'd have to replace the seat. Because I'd had it for just over a year (ugh..I'd waited too long to call) I'd have to pay to ship the old seat back, but they'd still replace it for me. I guess if it's been under a year you'd get it replaced for free.

I got a seat with a DOM the same month they sent it to me. So I gained about 1 1/2 years of use by returning the seat (though it was quite expensive...I probobly paid more than I should have).

Yeah, thats what she told me today.:) I don't have any problems with my straps. I am just wanting to change my current cover, but my straps are black on my current seat. The cover I want looks best with tan and the straps I ordered are tan. I am just funny about not having matching straps.
