Question Britax Companion, the handle, and the manual

Someone on my Craigslist said she is selling her new Britax Companion because it is not compatible with her car. The reason she says is because it touches the front seat of her Ford Escort.

I have looked through the manual and can't find anything about it.

I know the handle needs to be down, but does the handle still need to be able to clear the front seat (like rebound in an accident?)

As far as I know, Britax doesn't have a rule like Evenflo does about space between the handle and the front seat. The base has an antirebound bar, so I don't see the seat and handle moving so much that touching the front seat would be an issue. I guess it could break the handle, but since it's behind the seat, that wouldn't matter too much.

Probably, but as a former Escort owner (that's what we had when AJ was born) it's no fun having an infant seat in it where the handle has to be down. This requires putting the handle down before getting in the car and after getting out etc, there's no doing it in the car.

Her car might have restrictions on something touching the front seats, too. I'm not sure about that particular model, but some cars warn against that because it can interfere with the front passenger airbag sensors.
