Vent All Latch straps are not created equal.

But you all knew that! ;)

I just uninstalled a FPSVD, with the regular kind of Latch hooks and it took twice as long to get them unhooked as the cool hooks on the Marathon and the Radian Latch straps. (Installing a seat with Latch may be easier but UNinstalling it is NOT easier!)

Then, undoing the top tether was almost IMPOSSIBLE! I have a 2005 Expedition. The center tether anchor is all the way down the back of the seat and to the left.
I had to pull all sorts of junk out of the back (all soft, of course ) in order to auto lift up the third row seat so I could even get my hand down there, standing on the second row seat and leaning over as far as I could. I was almost upside down! And that hook was the awful kind also.

All I could think of was, if I was a more impatient person, I would have grabbed a knife and sliced that strap!

I got such a workout, I am still breathing hard. And it was starting to rain.

Ok, I just brought in the Marathon I am putting in instead. It has the good Latch hooks but still has the crummy tether hook.
So I am doomed, doomed I tell ya!

Ugh I loathe the location of the top tether anchors in the Expedition. It was especially fun being pregnant.
And yes, the Britax alligator clips are so much friendlier!

I love the latch connectors also on the Britax and Radian. BUT, that said, they do not work in dh's Murano. The seatbelt stalks connect exactly where the latch hooks are, making those kind almost impossible to use the latch system. The kids GN's go great in that car though with the hook type latch.

For the hook-type, what I found to get them out is to twist them. Yes, you still have to get your finger in there to press that little lever. Then slide it backwards, give it at least a quarter twist to keep it from rehooking (my problem), then you can pull it out.

For installing, I often prefer the hook-style clips, especially for anchors that are buried deep and/or stiff seatbacks. For UNinstalling, though, nothing beats the push-buttons.

I have never spoiled myself with a car seat with Alligator LATCH hooks. My next car seat will have them though because I DIG AND DIG AND DIG to get them suckers out! (granted my anchors are buried in the seat bight).

For now though, they don't bother me. It is all I am used to :)

I have to say even with seats that have the same style of hooks (the regular ones) all LATCH straps are not created equal. It seems to me even if you have the exact same strap it can work differently depending on the base of the car seat you're working with. Case in point, my friend and I were putting in her EB 3-in-1 RF with LATCH, it was a BEAR. Even the base off didn't help much. Took it out and put in my Scenera in the same spot with LATCH, easy as pie.:shrug-shoulders:

I hate, hate, hate anything other than the nice SK or Britax clips. The others are EVIL, I tell you.

I've been playing with the SureLATCH on the Evenflo Symphony...I love it so so so so so much... (it's like the fancy alligator clips, but with ALR retractors built in them, so kind of big, maybe too bulky, but on the BRU bench? divine!)
