Britax Frontier or Safeguard Child Seat?

I'm trying to decide between the Safeguard Child Seat and the Britax Frontier for my two yr old. She's 37 inches and 31 lbs. She's a tall gal. Any input on this? I would like to stick with the 5-point harness system as long as possible. I would also like the seat to be comfy for long car trips.

We have a 2003 Ford Escape right now.

Well, both are great seats! They are different though, just fyi the Frontier has 18" top slots vs. the Safeguard at 19" and the Frontier turns into a great booster seat after the harness is outgrown.
Is there a store where you could try out both seats to see which one you'd like better? Personally, I would choose the Safeguard and then worry about buying a booster later....but thats just me. My thinking behind this is that dramatic improvements are being made every year so by the time your child is ready for a booster there will be something "newer" to choose from. On the other hand, the Frontier is great for those who don't want to and cannot spend the money later...but either way they're both great seats

Thanks! I'm kind of leaning toward the Safeguard. That is a good point you made about how things will be "newer and better" by the time she's ready for a booster. I should go try it out somewhere first. I saw it for $100 off, so it's hard to turn down.

There is also the Regent, which has 20 inch top slots. My niece has one and my sister-in-law calls it her "recliner," lol! It's that comfy!

Of those two, I'd probably go with the Frontier. We have a SafeGuard, and while it has nice features and we really like it, I don't think it's worth the price. The seat depth is also rather shallow, which is probably fine for a 2-year-old, but maybe not for a 5-year-old.

The Frontier gives you more versatility (turning into a booster), although the SafeGuard does have slightly higher top slots.

Personally, I'd go with a Nautilus over the Frontier (just because of cost), or a Regent over all of them if you want to harness as long as possible. (Unless you'll need the seat for traveling, since the Regent isn't FAA approved.)
