So I am thinking DD needs another car seat for the spare seat......

....I just don't feel comfortable with her riding in a HBB. She is 5yo 40# and 40" give or take a little bit. I am comfortable with purchasing a seat that does not convert into a booster due to the fact that she is already in a booster in the spare car and we have already obtained it.

She is currently FF in a GN w/ harness in our main car. I do love the GN but would like something different this time around- and once again, it doesn't have to convert to a booster. Even a RF/FF car seat would be in my likings at the moment!

I want to keep her harnessed another year and then try her booster again in the spare car.

Any car seat suggestions this time around?

And can you tell me the limits on the harness of the car seat you suggest please?

Thanks guys! You rock

I would suggest either the Safeguard which has 19" top harness slots or the Britax Regent which has 20" top slots.

yeah... and since she's smaller, I'd probably be more inclined to go with the safeguard... it goes to 65lbs, so it isn't so super wide.

It doesn't have SIP though does it? My friend is willing to sell me her DOM 2007 Recaro Como for $150.....is that a good car seat?

Recaro Como is $149 on babycenter right now (at least they were yesterday). Not sure on the DOMs. I was told the recaros are great FF seats, just not RF (if you planned on using it for another child down the road).

The True fit is a good seat. It rf to 35 and ff to 65. The top slots are a little taller than the marathon and a little shorter than the nautilus. J is on the top slots of the GN and he still fit in the TF (with a tiny bit of room to grow). But by the time the child is reaching max height, you almost run out of harness (he still had an inch to grow, but could could barely loosen/tighten the harness).

That would be the plan!

Do you have a BRU nearby where you can try out the TF in your car? DD may fit the seat when in the store, but then not once it's installed. My 8 year old fit, but once we installed the seat, she was over the top.

If DD fits I'd go with that over the Recaro Como because of it's ERF leg room :)

Oh, and I believe the Recaros sit up higher and that may not work in a sports car

Good point!

I would LOVEEEEE a TF! They have a pretty one here at Target (we don't have a BRU) but it is $189! I don't wanna spend that much again!
