It's no longer available online. It was a pdf of a page in the 2007 LATCH manual, but the link stopped working when SRN redesigned their site (but the less detailed 2005 quick reference is still available).

Are you looking for info on any particular vehicle?

Not really. Just on another message board someone was talking about a 40lb latch limit on theirs. Ours is 48lbs, but alot of others did not know theirs or even that there was a limit.

could someone let me know what the limits are for a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and a 2008 Saturn Aura? DS is still probably only 37 pounds ish at age 6! He's in a Regent.

There's really no need to worry too much, as carseats themselves have limits you should follow when the car doesn't specify (which most don't). Honda is low at 40 pounds, but given that LATCH is a standard system and Subaru allows it to 60, then there's no worry that Honda's is less strong and will fail.
Top tethers also have weight limits, but given that NONE have EVER failed in real life, it's wise to continue using them for the entire time you leave your child harnessed (again, it's a standard piece of hardware...even the test benches have the same hooks as cars, and the seats with higher weight limits are tested with them without failing up to their maximum weights).

I believe both are 48 lbs. (I don't have my LATCH Manual in front of me, but as far as I know, all US cars are 48. Someone correct me.) Depending on the date of your Regent, you might need to switch to a different installation method (short-belt path) when your child hits 40 lbs.

Could someone explain the "tether maximum"

:yeahthat:

The point of the top tether is to reduce head excursion (the distance the head flies forward in a crash). Even IF the tether were to fail, it wouldn't do so until after it had done its job of reducing head excursion, so the benefits really outweigh the risks.
