News Britax Frontier Recall ( 08c010000 )

I sent my other Frontier DOM 10/31/08 back to Britax due to the "rattling noise" inside the shell.

Could you elaborate on this? Mine sounds like there is sand/small rocks/something in there moving around. My DOM is 07/08. I just assumed it was little pieces of plastic. Did Britax seemed concerned or anything? Thanks for any help.

My son's Frontier, not in the recall, rattles when he isn't sitting in it. My DH says that it is that "bar" on the bottom that has to be flipped forward or back, depending on how the seat is being used. It doesn't rattle when he is in the seat because his weight is in there to push it down.

Mine is more inside the shell, nothing to do with the bar (although it drives me crazy). It is like there is something inside the seat itself. I wasn't worried until Pixie said something about returning hers.

Sure, I opened it new out of the box from Target. I picked it up to turn it over and make adjustments and I could hear something slidding around inside. When I would tilt the seat I could hear something going back inforth inside the shell. My DOM was 10/31/08.

I called Britax and first the CS rep (won't say her name) said: Send it back to target.
I called back and got a male cs rep. I told him I didn't feel safe sending the seat back to Target, that it could end up in another parent's hands. I couldn't put another child in possible danger. God knows what that noise was?! :shrug-shoulders: They sent me a label and I shipped the seat to them and they shipped out a new one. The new one was a DOM of 12/22. I wasn't even concerned about this harness issue, thought I was safe. :eek:

I called Britax today.
The CS rep asked me if my harness has the "extra" stitch, which it does.
I remember seeing pics of the two harness types w and w/o the extra stitch. Forget the poster who took them.

They are sending me another Frontier and want ours to "study".

I'm a bit apprehensive to even use the Frontier. :cool: I should have asked for a Regent in place of it. I would have lost money in the deal but all well.

oddly enough this was the first i've heard of this issue and my seat is indeed affected. still haven't received the kit, though i guess they send them out in waves and it can take "2-4 weeks" from the time the issue was recalled, which would mean hopefully this week or next i receive something in the mail.

ugh. i'd rather have a fixed harness, too, rather than plastic caps - so if i receive nothing within a week, i'll call them. i know the seat is registered because i had an extra piece of comfort foam sent out and the cs rep registered the seat when i called.

I haven't recieved out kit either, but the seat wasn't registered until December so that's likely why. In the meanwhile it's being used as a HBB anyway.
