New seat - wash cover before use?

Hmm. That's what I thought. I don't think I washed DD's before she used them (but can't remember for sure). He's using DD's old infant seat right now, and I washed it before he used it this time because it had been sitting in a closet collecting dust. Tyler has eczema really bad and breaks out from everything. We have to wash all of his/our clothes and bedding in hypoallergenic laundry stuff. I'm afraid he might break out if I don't wash the cover on the SS1 that is being delivered tomorrow. On the other hand, I don't want to wash the cover unnecessarily. Maybe I'll try him out in it, and if he reacts, then I'll wash it. I think I've heard somewhere that unnecessary washing can reduce the flame retardant properties.

We have the SS1 in Roxy (one of the shiny - metallicy covers). The covers STINKS when you wash it. I'd recommend NOT washing it until you have to, if yours is a similar material.

Thanks for the heads-up!! I just washed the head support piece, and not the rest of the cover. Since it's winter and he'll be covered in clothes, I figured that's the only part that really matters right now anyway.

Yes, the more you wasn hit, the more the chemicals would wear off. And we do want those chemicals to keep our kids safe :)

My boss just got a new SS1 for the new baby. She asks me every other day if she should was the cover now. She's busily washing everything in Dreft :) Every other day I tell her no.... :) Maybe one day she'll believe me
