    expiration date

I have an infant graco car seat modle # 8442YL stamped on the back of the car seat it says do not use after december 2007. I just noticed this warning, do I need to buy a new car seat or is this one still safe?

    Re: expiration date

It expired almost a year ago and really should be replaced.

    Re: expiration date

The seat absolutely must be replaced immediately. It is no longer safe to use. Besides being expired, many of the older snugrides have had recalls on them.

If you can tell us your child's age, size and the make, model and year of your vehicle we can suggest replacement seats.

    Re: expiration date

The seat needs to be replaced. Many parents think that expiration dates are just a ploy to sell more seats, or that it is because technology is improving. The real reason is that the plastic degrades, and in a crash it will no longer hold. The whole harness can rip out of the carseat, and the child can be ejected.

I think you answered your own question.

The companies don't just put these dates and warnings on their seats for the fun of it.
