We are flying to Europe and are going to use friends Ford Mondeo (maybe 5years old). If I understand correctly in Europe there in no LATCH but Isofix. Are they the same thing or not? If the Ford has Isofixs, could I use them to install the Boulevard? If not it has a normal three point belt in the middle does it work the same way than the US seat belts or is there something specific for me to remember when installing the seat. Thank you!

I live in Denmark, and I have a Britax Regent. I used the LATCH system. The points in the car are the same. The difference is the system applied to the car seats.

List of EU cars with top tether:

Several models of cars are not mentioned. Peugeot make several models of cars with top tether - only one is listed. I would check with your friends if the Ford Mondeo has them.

You´ll need a locking clip if you decide to use the seat belt system. Seat belts in many EU cars do not lock. EU child restraints have built-in belt lock-offs.

Thanks Lena! I'm planning to install RF so I can tether to the front seats. I think Boulevard has a locking clip in the seat so I don't need one. Do you need a separate clip for the Regent?

We had a Ford Mondeo as a rental when we first got here in Aug. The Blvd installs like a dream in it using IsoFix.... there is no top tether though.

I installed our Blvd by the door, rear-facing and foward facing.

There is lots of room in that car.. I really really really liked it and how easy it was to install.

The car we had was new though. I am not sure if the one you are using will have them or not being 5 yrs old.

The Isofix is almost the same as Latch. The only difference is that latch includes the top tehter, isofix doesn't.

The Boulevard has built-in lockoffs to use with non-locking seatbelts. The Regent would need a separate H-shaped metal locking clip to install with non-locking seatbelts, and you can get a locking clip from a store like Babies 'R Us or other stores that sell carseats in the U.S. (Canada, too, I think - I'm not sure where you're based :)) before your trip if you have one (or were you just asking about Lena's Regent? I'm not fully awake yet today, lol). The Regent is one of the few seats lacking built-in lockoffs that doesn't come with the separate locking clip.

No our car has locking seat belts. We don´t use the Regent much anymore - only on long road trips. Our dd is autistic, so won´t sit properly in a regular booster.

Thank you all! I'm the OP. I still have one question regarding Isofix. Do you know how far they are from each other and if there is Isofix only on the outboard could I use those to install the seat in the middle?
