My friend is shopping for a convertible seat for her unborn baby. She has an infant seat but has the money for the next seat right now and would like to buy it ahead of time. She's looking to spend around $150.

Any suggestions??

For that price I'd look first at the First Years True Fit, which is on sale right now . My second choice would be the EFTA.

I wouldn't buy anything right now. All that will do is take time off the number of years she can use it. It would be a HUGE waste of money. She should wait until the baby is about to outgrow the infant seat :twocents:

:yeahthat:

If she is worried about not having the money when the seat is needed, she could always get a gift card and put the money on it at one of the major stores. Wal Mart and Target both have the seats online and Target has most of them in store also. Do you know what infant seat she is using?

What bucket does she have? If she has a 22lb seat I personally dont think its a bad idea considering the baby will only be in the bucket for a few months (unless she has a SS1 or something) :shrug-shoulders:.

That said I would go for a TrueFit or EFTA.

how far along is she and what infant seat does she have??

I would say either the EFTA or Truefit, but what I'd recommend also depends on how long she has till she delivers.

if she's due soon... take advantage of the sale.

otherwise, I'd hold off till she's closer to term and go with the less pricey EFTA.

The reason the Truefits are on sale is they are getting ready to phase them out for the newer model that has an anti-rebound bar.

It might last more than a few months. Although it is not normal some kids do fit longer than a few months. My DD could still fit in her 22 lb SR at 17 months even though we moved her to an EFTA at 14 months.

If I had bought a convertible before she was born I would have lost over a year of use.

I say wait. There could be other options when she needs it.

If she's say, six months pregnant now, the baby won't be born for another three months.

The 22 lb buckets last most babies around 9 months, some longer.

She buys a seat now, she's going to take a year off its usefulness.

There's really no good reason to buy it now. :twocents:

She has 2 months left to go in this pregnancy. She has a graco snugride for the infant stages.

Yes, what I am trying to say is, seats expire. So if she buys a seat now with a six year expiration on it, it will expire when her kid is five or less. Why not save the money and buy the seat when she can get her full money's worth out of it?

I guess I'm confused
