Where are the tethers in a 2002 T&C?

The '02 Chrysler Town and Country has 3 top tether anchors total (3 factory equipped; no more can be retrofitted). Both second row outboard seating positions have full LATCH, and the third row center has a tether anchor only. All 3 tether anchors are located on the lower back of the vehicle seats according to my LATCH manual. You can see the Chrysler section of the LATCH manual online currently at http://www.saferidenews.com/SRNDNN/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=BbUvCCP0gi8=&tabid=54&mid=372

Safe and tested or else they wouldn't be there. :) Seriously, no worries. Many vans and SUVs have them on the back of the vehicle seat.

You're welcome. :) An added bonus: the child restraint's top tether strap won't have to cross over the rear floor or cargo area to reach the tether anchor if the anchor is on the vehicle seat back. Some vans/SUVs with tether anchors on the floor of the cargo area make loading and stowing strollers/groceries/other cargo more of a challenge.

I have an opportunity to buy one from a mechanic who also deals. 4995.00 including a 5 yr warranty on the engine, tranny and water pump and a few other things. Of course lots of people have called and I live about an hour away. DH is sleeping and I'm not sure if it's worth it to wake him and make the trip. I see it doesn't do great on crash tests and I don't know much else about the car. Think it's worth it? There is only one thing that I really hate about this van, it has leather seats  very uncomfortable. I really want a reliable van with LATCH for my future booster. And this is basically as high as we can go.

Hmm, if I were shopping for a used Chrysler/Dodge minivan and wanting LATCH, I'd try to find a 2001 model over a 2002 model because the 2001 Chrysler/Dodge vans are mother lodes of LATCH and tether anchors. The 2001s have factory equipped top tether anchors for all rear seating positions, along with lower LATCH anchors in both second row seats and both third row outboard seating positions, with the ability to install with LATCH in the third row center if you don't install with LATCH outboard in the third row. Much more flexibility for installing with LATCH or tethering in the 2001. I don't know why Chrysler decontented the vans after the 2001 model year in terms of the number of LATCH/tether anchor equipped seating positons, but that's what happened.
