Help me choose an infant seat

I have no clue what seat to pick. I sold all my other ones because I'm weird like that and need a new one for each kid

What I did with the last two is used a snugride the first 4 months or so when they outgrew it by height and then got a SS1 to last a lot longer. (Yes i didn't know better and went by the 26/29" rule regardless of the amount of shell over their heads) I liked the snugride because it was smaller and lighter and by the time they outgrew it at 4 months I wasn't lugging it around as much so the bigger SS1 didn't matter much. I just got the SS1 for those "just in case" moments where it was convenient.

ANyways, I'm trying to decide between the SS1 (snugride 32) and the Keyfit 30. But I heard the Keyfit has no taller a shell than the 22. Is that true? So kinda like the Radian 65/80 deal? Just extra weight?

I had one super tall skinny kid who needed extra height but not weight.

Then I had one extremely short light kid who didn't need height or weight (she would have fit in the snugride until 7 or so months)

So I have no "trend" in kids. I have no clue what #3 will be like. Should I play it safe and get the Snugride 32 for the extra height?

I really want the keyfit, but if it's the same shell as a 22 lb seat what good does that do? Why not just get the 22 lb seat then? Doesn't that just mean they will be outgrown by height at the same time? Does any kid even get close to 30 lbs in the Keyfit??

Pros/cons?

sorry to ask, but did I miss the announcement? when are you due?

LOL...sorry I'm not yet. But we are starting to try this month and both kids were a one shot deal (no pun intended) hehe

So I'm not thinking it will take too long, so just preparing for when tax time comes along!

LOL! I am THE SAME way! I had a Snugride for my oldest (she's 6), Primo Viaggio for #2 and an Anice Primo Viaggio with SIP for #3 and a Rose Primo Viaggio with SIP for #4.

I am currently considering the KeyFit, because it's supposed to be narrow and I am seriously disappointed in Peg's fabric choices for 2008/2009.

Anyway, I don't have anything useful to add, just wanted to tell you that you aren't alone in your 'new infant seat for every child' way of thinking. :)

I am planning on the keyfit30, only because you have to buy the 22 in a travel system and I don't need a stroller.

I *may* end up with a safeseat after a few months though. My sister will be TTC in early spring and she has had 2 preemies. She has a safeseat that she used for one winter with my niece so we will trade if needed.

I would get a keyfit just because I liked mine so much. I was trying to decide between the SS1 and KF - only the 22# model was out. I had played with an SS1 in the store and hadn't seen a KF - but was so glad I went with that instead. It felt so much more solid than the SS1 and I loved the infant padding. And for carrying it, I stick my arm through the handle to my elbow and rest the seat on my hip - the KF has smooth sides, the SS1 dug into my hip. My dd ended up way tinier than my other kids and lasted until 20-21 months in it - or would've if I hadn't sold it when she was 12.5 months. My other kids would've outgrown a 22# seat by 9 months(outgrew the 20# snugride by 5 months), so I got lucky with a peanut. Just my opinion:love:

im like you also. I had an eddie bauer (thought because of the name it was great). Then the safeseat for my almost 2 year old. But i didn't sell my old ones. They are sitting in my basement. I am already thinking about the new one i want when i get pregnant, but i will save the safe seat and use that once the baby outgrows it.

We're currently TTC and we're in love with the Keyfit 30. Of course I'm also waiting to see what new infant seat Britax releases.
